Boys Ranch girls’ basketball comes to an end at district level

The Boys Ranch High School girls’ basketball season came to an end Monday night when the Roughriders fell 56-36 to Panhandle in the first round of district playoffs. The entire game was a hard-fought, fast-paced battle.

On that fateful night, the bleachers were packed at Tascosa High School with cheering Boys Ranch Fans. While Boys Ranch and Panhandle exchanged points readily in the first quarter and were evenly matched, Panhandle made a three-pointer run just prior to half-time that sent our ladies to the locker room with a 22-point deficit.

Entering the second-half determined, the Roughriders made a rally run early in the 3rd quarter, coming within 16 points of their opponent. Sadly, though, Boys Ranch was never able to close the gap.

“This year’s basketball season made all of us feel something,” said Kerry Moss, girls’ basketball coach at Boys Ranch High School. “Every time you watched these young ladies, I hope you observed determination. We had a great season.”

The Roughriders ended their season with a 12-11 record.

While some of our Lady Riders will return next season, Boys Ranch will be saying farewell to some incredible young ladies this May as they embark on the next stage in their lives.

And to our seniors: Aubrey, Emily, Sara, Sarah and Tazia, we’re so very proud of all you and the hard work you’ve put into your season — and your futures!
